Try Giving your way to Success

This is my first post in the after glow of such an exciting and positive conclusion to the election. The gift of my time I made in PA and FL canvassing feels especially good right now. Ten days or so before the election I was in San Diego for the fall SVN conference, always one of the high points of my year. One of the strategies I have been personally using during these tough times is to give my way to success. This year at the conference I and several other members who do some form of advisory services offered free meetings to fellow conference attendees.

Alternative Energy Leads from the IIB Network

My client is interested in locating and purchasing wind farms. Location is not important. He is particularly interested in older properties that might even be non-functioning or in disrepair. A finders fee is being offered.

Convergence

Today is day twenty I have been under the weather (cold turned into an awful sinus infection than back to a cold), fortunately I am finally on the road to recovery. I never got the chance to write about Convergence, the conference put on in NYC at the Desmond Tutu Retreat Center (an awesome place for a conference)by a Connecticut based company Criterion Ventures www.criterionventures.com. The point of Convergence seemed to be about conversations with smart people.

Acting out of character in times of Crisis

Nobody I talk to seems to disagree that we could call these days a time of crisis. Our energy policy is a disaster with out of control gas and heating prices, we are at war on two fronts, there is a climate crisis, Wall St is clearly in a crisis, our health care system is a disaster and I am leaving out countless areas of current American life that are operating off the rails it's just they are not as crucial as some of the areas previuosly mentioned. Why am I sharing all this negativity here?

Collaboration

I strongly believe collaboration is the most powerful we skill we need to develop to survive and thrive through what David Korten calls "the great turning". One of my projects involves gaming in a variety of mediums focused on health care education.I was sent an amazing article from the NYT www.nytimes.com/2008/09/05/arts/television/05spor.html?8ur&emc=ur. It describes a video game called Spore, which mimic's evolution. What I found most fascinating about the game is to succeed you need to strike the perfect balance between co-operation and competition.
