Why am I writing about the Winter Solstice, because starting today the days get longer. To me this brings with it hope and opportunity, a Glistening horizon. It is also a wonderful time to pause and reflect. Next Friday the 29th I have set aside a few hours to reflect on 2011 and set my personal and business themes for 2012. You might consider setting aside some time for a similar process. One year from today the Mayan Calender ends, but in my mind this is not about an ending because all endings are new beginnings.  2012 will be a year of great transitions. Many years from now when we look back we will be amazed at all the changes we are now individually and as a world  experiencing. In general humans avoid change, we approach it from a place of fear. Some concepts that I think will hold us and our businesses  in good stead in 2012 and beyond; be mindful, be in the present  which will help us face our fears and move through them. The concept of collaboration and community will advance us like we have never seen before. Balancing out our historic competitive natures. Being present, being mindful, being deeply committed to collaboration will be some of the themes that will drive a healthy, happy and prosperous 2012.
